Gail Knight bought her first bulldog, Yorick, in 1987. Although he was not a show dog, Mrs. Knight quickly “got hooked on bulldogs” and began going to shows and learning more about the breed.

By 1989, she had purchased her first two show prospects and finished both their championships within the year. She also bred her first litter in 1989, choosing as her kennel name “Rattlesden,” after a village in England where her ancestors lived.

Mrs. Knight’s first home - bred champion, Rattlesden Pull Up My Socks, whelped in 1990, finished from the Bred By Exhibitor class, winning Best Of Breed over the top - ranked bulldog in the country at the time. Mrs. Knight continued breeding, at most, a litter or two each year, whenever she was ready for a new puppy to show.

Mrs. Knight has been a member of the Bulldog Club of America since 1987. She has been involved in bulldog rescue since the late 1990s and recently completed terms as chairman of the BCA’s Rescue Committee and as a member of the BCA Rescue Network Board of Directors. She has been a licensed AKC bulldog judge since 1999.

After her retirement, Mrs. Knight worked several years as a veterinary technician. Although she is no longer breeding and showing bulldogs, Mrs. Knight enjoys judging them in conformation and accepts assignments regularly at both all - breed and specialty shows. She lives in Florida.
