Gretchen Dyson got her start in bulldogs in the mid - 1970s. After falling in love with a litter of bulldog puppies she saw on television, Mrs. Dyson joined the Bulldog Club of America and went to her first dog show. With help from several bulldog exhibitors listed in the show catalog, she found her first bulldog puppy, Trudy.
As she continued going to shows and developing her eye for the breed, Mrs. Dyson began looking for a stud dog that would build on Trudy’s strengths and compensate for her faults. On advice from a seasoned breeder who evaluated Trudy and her pedigree, Mrs. Dyson contacted Ruby Grogg whose line of bulldogs was prominent in Trudy’s background.
A breeding to one of Ms. Grogg’s stud dogs produced Mrs. Dyson’s first litter of six puppies and began a partnership with Ms. Grogg that continues to this day. Under the DyGros prefix, the two have bred multiple bulldog champions, specialty and all - breed Best In Show winners, group placers and top producers.
Mrs. Dyson is a member of the Bulldog Club of America’s Breeders Hall of Fame and has trained, shown and titled bulldogs in obedience and rally. A dog she bred and co - owned with Ms.Grogg, Champion Dy - Gros Die Hard At Twin Lakes, is listed in the BCA’s Producers Hall of Fame.
Now living in Colorado, Mrs. Dyson recently retired after working 23 years for a veterinary practice serving a number of bulldog - owning clients. She is still active in breeding, training and showing bulldogs and French bulldogs in obedience and rally.
