Joyce Dingman

With her husband Karl, Joyce Dingman got her first bulldog in 1969 and began breeding and showing in the early 1970s. While they have owned and bred a number of outstanding bulldogs and have been active in bulldog breed clubs at local and division levels for many years, the Dingmans are best known and admired as owner - handlers of a true superstar of the breed, Champion Marinebull’s All The Way.

The Dingmans bought “Goober” in 1973 as a four - month - old puppy and finished his championship at nine months. By the time they retired him from showing in 1976, he had become the top - winning bulldog of the day.

Among Goober’s wins were two Bests In Specialty Show at the Bulldog Club of America’s 1975 and 1976 national specialties, 36 Bests In Specialty Show at other bulldog specialties, 48 all - breed Bests In Show, including a Chicago International Kennel Club show win over more than 3,000 dogs, 110 Group Firsts, including one at the 1976 Westminster Kennel Club show, and 220 Bests Of Breed. Goober was the top - winning dog from the AKC’s Non - Sporting Group for 1976, the same year Karl Dingman was named top owner - handler of the year.

Goober also distinguished himself as a record - breaking stud dog, producing 87 American Kennel Club champions and earning a place in the BCA’s Stud Dog Hall of Fame. In 1978, he was the top - producing AKC Non - Sporting Group sire.

As breeders, the Dingmans’ one or two annual litters produced 65 AKC champions, a number of multiple all - breed Best In Show and Best In Specialty Show winners, four top producers recognized by the Bulldog Club of America’s Producers Hall of Fame, and membership in the BCA’s Breeders Hall of Fame.

Bred by the Dingmans and trained and shown by Mrs. Dingman, Dingman’s Lawdy Miss Maudy, UD, CDX, CD, is listed as a BCA top producer as well as being recognized in the BCA’s Obedience Hall of Fame.

Mr. and Mrs. Dingman are now retired and living in New Mexico. Although they are no longer breeding bulldogs, both are licensed bulldog judges and enjoy occasional judging assignments.
